The San Sebastian Film Festival has launched the 7th Zinemaldia Startup Challenge, inviting Spanish and European startups using new technologies in the audiovisual sector to submit their projects by June 2, 2025.
This initiative is part of Zinemaldia & Technology, backed by the Basque Government (Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability and SPRI), and included in Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech, supported by ICAA, ICEX, and the Ministries of Culture and Digital Transformation.
Who Can Apply?
- Entrepreneurs or startups founded after Dec 31, 2019
- Projects must use new technologies in audiovisual
- Applicants must reside in Spain or Europe
- Must be open to launching in the Basque Country
What’s Offered?
- 10 finalists (5 Spanish, 5 European) will present at the Festival on Sept 25
- Networking opportunities and exposure
- Free incubation for 1 year in Basque Technology Parks
- Funding up to €500,000
- €10,000 prizes for one Spanish and one European winner
- €3,000 special mention for entrepreneurial values
Organized with TECNALIA, ALÍA, and Vicomtech, the challenge bridges innovation and the audiovisual industry.
