International Women’s Day 2025

On 8 March, we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) which is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality and serves a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality while underscoring the work that still needs to be done.

Accelerate Action is this year’s theme that focuses on the urgency in addressing the barriers that women face in professional and personal spheres. Find out more about the events and celebration that will take place around the world in the framework of the IWD by clicking here.

The “Creative Europe” and “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV)” EU funding programmes support a comprehensive and gender-sensitive approach in funding projects that are promoting rights, non-discrimination and gender equality.

Launched in 2021, CERV is the largest-ever EU fund for advancing and protecting fundamental rights within the EU. One of the strands of the programme promotes rights, non-discrimination, and equality, including gender equality, and gender mainstreaming. Advocating for women’s rights and promoting gender equality are themes reflected in CERV-funded projects that you may explore in an article prepared by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency.
