PLATO Launch Event & Proposal Writing Workshop

The NGO Support Centre organises on Wednesday, 12 March 2025 the launch event of the “Protecting democracy, human rights and the rule of law through an open civic space (PLATO)” project, which is co-funded by the CERV programme.

The aim of the launch event is the presentation of the PLATO programme and the open call for proposals which will be published soon. The event includes a panel discussion and debate entitled “Democracy, human rights and the rule of law: The role of Civil Society”. The objective of the two open calls is to support Civil Society by providing a total of €2.2 million which will be allocated to fund projects in Greece and Cyprus.
In the framework of the event, the Organisation for European Programmes and Cultural Relations (OEPCR), which operates the CERV Cyprus National Contact Point, will present the European programme “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV)” and the funding opportunities it offers to CSOs.
The project ‘Protecting democracy, human rights, and the rule of law through an open civic space’ (PLATO) aims to protect, promote and raise awareness of EU fundamental rights & values by supporting Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Greece & Cyprus active in these fields, by increasing their knowledge, capacity and sustainability. PLATO is coordinated by the Bodossaki Foundation (Greece) in consortium with the NGO Support Centre (Cyprus).

PLATO is co-funded by the European Union (90% funding rate), through the Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values programme* (CERV-2024-CITIZENS-VALUES), and by the Bodossaki Foundation and NGO Support Centre (10% funding rate), with the total grant amounting to €3.1 million.
