The Creative Europe Desk Cyprus invites you to a presentation of the open and future calls for proposals under the MEDIA strand of the European Programme Creative Europe for 2024.

Within the specific objective of promoting the competitiveness, scalability, cooperation, innovation and sustainability of the European audiovisual sector, one of the priorities of the MEDIA strand is:

to strengthen the circulation, promotion, online and theatrical distribution of European audiovisual works, within the European Union and internationally in the new digital environment; including the innovative business model.

The workshop aims to provide beneficiaries with information on:

Key aspects of the above 2024 calls & eligibility criteria,
The key criteria and eligibility criteria, including the eligibility criteria and the main features of the calls, including any differences between the calls and those of previous years,
Overview of award criteria & relevant advice,
Key elements and comments on the selection results of previous years 2022-2023,
application procedure .

In particular, the Films on the Move programme (CREA-MEDIA-2024-FILMOVE) aims to :

encourage and support the wider distribution of recent non-national European films, in particular by encouraging sales agents and film distributors to invest in the promotion and adequate distribution of non-national European films.

Expected results:

Development of pan-European cinema and/or online distribution strategies for non-national European films.
Increased investment in theatrical and/or online promotion and distribution of non-national European films in view of the widening of the audience reach.
Develop links between the production and distribution sector, thus improving the competitive position of non-national European films on the world market.

The Networks of European Festivals programme (CREA-MEDIA-2024-FESTNET) aims to :

Provide support for coordinated/collaborative activities between European audiovisual festivals with the aim of increasing public interest in non-national European audiovisual content and promoting its circulation and promotion.

Expected results:

Strengthen cooperation between European audiovisual festivals members of a network screening a significant proportion of non-national European films and audiovisual works through coordinated/cooperative activities aimed at expanding and renewing audiences.
Increase the impact of European audiovisual festivals with a view to enhancing the promotion, distribution and circulation of non-national European films and audiovisual works to a growing audience throughout Europe.
Promote the exchange of knowledge and best practice models for cooperation between festivals through coordinated/collaborative activities aimed at expanding and renewing audiences.
Leverage digital transformation, including the development and updating of online tools and dana applications.

The European Film sales agent programme (CREA-MEDIA-2024-FILMSALES) is expected to :

Improve the transnational distribution of recent non-national European films.
Increase investment in the production, acquisition, promotion, cinematographic and online distribution of non-national European films.
Develop links between the production and distribution sectors, thereby improving the competitive position of non-national European films.

These projects are open to all cultural and creative sectors. However, bearing in mind that this action is aimed at achieving the objectives of the audiovisual sector. Depending on the terms of each call for proposals, the following bodies are eligible to apply: producers, distributors and sales agents, technology companies, video-on-demand services, cumulative representation bodies, exhibitors, film markets, etc. For more information, please consult the calls for proposals.
