Co-organised online info session on the MEDIA Carbon Calculator

The Creative Europe Desk Cyprus and the Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Greece, co-organise an online info session on the MEDIA Carbon Calculator, an EU tool aimed at tracking the carbon emissions and footprint of the European audiovisual industry.

The online presentation is open to all the Creative Europe programme beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders from Greece and Cyprus, including audiovisual sector professionals, such as producers, production managers, directors, sustainability managers, coordinators, screenwriters, production and cinematography technicians. The event is also open to members of funding institutions, broadcasting corporations, the national government and other relevant stakeholders.
The info session will begin with a presentation of the MEDIA Carbon Calculator, a tool designed based on the traits of the European audiovisual sector. The presentation will include a demonstration of the tool (live demo) and practical examples. The presentation will be given by Mr Florian Reimann, CEO & Founder of Yamdu, Project lead for the MEDIA Carbon Calculator and Expert for film production workflows.
The MEDIA Carbon Calculator is an innovative tool designed to track and monitor carbon emissions and the environmental footprint of the audiovisual sector. More specifically, it will provide, where applicable, datasets with national factors for all EU 27 Member States, enabling accurate carbon tracking that reflects European variations and specificities.
The presentation aims to highlight and promote green and sustainable practices across all levels of audiovisual production. It seeks to raise awareness among professionals in the sector regarding environmental responsibility and carbon footprint reduction, while supporting the green transition of the audiovisual industry in line with the Creative Europe horizontal priorities.
In the second part of the online info session, examples of sustainable and environmentally responsible production practices will be presented by professionals from Cyprus and Greece. Ms. Stelana Kliri, film director and producer at Meraki Films in Cyprus will showcase sustainable production methods and approaches from Cyprus, while Ms. Emma Doxiadi, Filmmaker & Sustainability Strategist from Greece will also share best practices and experiences from the Greek audiovisual sector.
