The Organisation for European Programmes and Cultural Relations (OEPCR) will present funding opportunities for the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors at this year’s Cyprus Comic Con 2025 Festival, the island’s largest celebration of pop culture. The presentation, titled “Funding Opportunities Under the ‘Creative Europe’ EU Programme, will take place on Saturday, 4 October 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 on the Main Stage in Hall A at the Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia.

As Cyprus Comic Con returns October 3-5, drawing around thirty thousand enthusiasts for its mix of comics, films, TV, gaming, and celebrity appearances—including stars like Paul Anderson from Peaky Blinders and Craig Fairbrass from Netflix’s One Piece as well as Original Pokemon Theme Song Singer, Jason Paige all the way from the USA — OEPCR’s session offers a timely platform for creators and professionals to explore EU funding opportunities. Billed as Eastern Europe’s most entertaining event, the convention provides an ideal backdrop for discussions on boosting Cyprus’ creative industries through international collaboration and innovation.

The presentation will delve into the Creative Europe programme, which boasts a €2.44 billion budget for the 2021-2027 programming period, aimed at reinforcing cultural diversity and addressing cultural and creative sectors and industries challenges. Key objectives of the programme include safeguarding European cultural and linguistic diversity and heritage, while enhancing the competitiveness of cultural and creative sectors, particularly in audio-visual fields relevant to comic con attendees such as film, media, and digital content.

Speakers Margarita Ioannou and Nikos Georgoudis, Administrative Officers at OEPCR, will guide participants through the available calls for proposals, the application process and eligibility criteria emphasizing how these funds can empower Cypriot artists, filmmakers, and other creators in cultural and audiovisual production.
