3rd Festival for the Promotion of Gender Equality – Femme Fest Cyprus

The 3rd Femme Fest Cyprus, which will come to life on the weekend of 18 and 19 May at the Nicosia Municipal Garden, is organised by the Women’s Movement POGO, has the institutional support of the Office of the Gender Equality Commissioner, is hosted by the Nicosia Municipality and supported by the National Women’s Rights Mechanism.

The festival will include discussions on women’s reproductive rights, sex education, women’s professional advancement, the impact of wars on women and more. It will also include workshops on gender violence, gender stereotypes and social roles, obstetric violence, menopause.

The Organisation for European Programmes and Cultural Relations,  which operates the Creative Europe Desk Cyprus and the CERV Cyprus National Contact Point, will participate in the event with a booth, where participants can receive information on EU programmes funding opportunities (Creative Europe & CERV).

Femme Fest will host more than 50 organizations including universities, NGOs, and institutions dealing with gender issues as well as women who will present their work. The festival will feature thematic centres where we will meet women’s personalities from Cyprus and the world, learn about the history of women’s rights, and highlight the issue of femicide. There will also be a children’s corner with theatre workshops, book reading, games, and crafts with a gender perspective. The programme will also include dance, theatre and music performances, and food and drink will be available on site.

The doors of the festival open at 16:30 and admission and participation in all activities is free of charge.
